iron buck 10 Report post Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Just broke out my Ruger M77 Mark II in 300 Win mag. It is the only big game rifle I own which I have not actually used on big game. I picked up some Remington 180 core lokts to use to check my scope and sight in. My plan was to use them for practice and then handload my own rounds. Problem is......my rifle LOVED them. It is grouping at just over 1/2" with three shots at 100 yards. Looks like I will go with "plan B"......just use the factory stuff . Now if I can just draw that elusive Pennsylvania elk tag! Strut10 137 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 Sounds like you got lucky, Bill !!! Can't find much more reasonably priced factory fodder to feed your .300 Mag than good old Green Box.

iron buck 10 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 I do like it, but I have yet to use this one for big game. Bought it new back in the early 90's. I think I may use it during our PA deer season this year. I know it is overkill....but it is a shame to let this one sit:cool:

Shoobee 10 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 I did not know the Rugers made such quality barrels to give you less than 1 moa with a 300. Remingtons routinely do. The main advantage of the 300s is their flatter trajectories downrange, for which your shoulder pays a toll.
