repeal it, then what?

Recommended Posts

Serious question that pretty well all gop candidates are saying they will repeal it, but not hearing too much on what happens next. Be nice to hear some more details on plans from the candidates in this next debate other than just we will repeal it.

Will the taxpayers who have been unjustly fined by the irs get refunds for a portion or any of those fines? What happens to those who have the govt provided(taxpayer paid) plans?

Going to be a mess and some of the vague answers so far offer little solution to these issues.

Too bad cnn is not accepting write on questions like fox did.

whoa whoa whoa there Will;

Repeal WHAT? obamma scare? heck ya it never was any good

Iran Nuclear deal?, piece of trash never was a "deal"

Piece of trash describes obama imho. Too bad we cannot repeal him and everything he has done.

Seriously though, healthcare needs some questions answered, not just a we will repeal obamacare. I want to know how they will get the issues straight and get healthcare costs and insurance premiums reigned back in and under control for the struggling class.

Unfortunately I think Obamacare is here to stay. Too many people depend on it and the subsidies that go along with it. I hope and pray we get a president that can at least come up with some common sense changes to make health care more affordable for the middle class. I know my premiums have went through the roof the last six years or so. It is my #1 largest expense, surpassing my mortgage with last years rate increase. It amazes me that this garbage passed in the first place. Affordable Care Act....really? On what planet is $10000 a year for a middle class family premium affordable? My blood boils every time i think about it. As much as I think something HAS to be done to real in premiums, I'm not holding my breath on much happening even if a republican takes over the White House.

May be wishful thinking on my part but i believe that if anyone would have the insight on solving healthcare crisis it would be Dr Carson. If he were to get elected i think there may be some changes that would even things out. He is the best chance at that imo.

What i am finding interesting/puzzling is that some who claim to be anti obama and republicans are saying Carson scares them yet they say they will vote for trump.

trump being president scares me. hillary isn't trusted enough and so I feel anyone liberal would be probably for sanders. he really scares me. guns will be ok to have but we'll make it harder than heck to get or keep them (still a 2nd amendment infringement if you ask me). also he's got so much spending planned we'd be like financially sovent but still looking like Greece but with less average joe benefits. our dollar would then compete with the Mexican peso. love to see Rubio as president and cruz as VP. Sheldon silver was speaker of the assembly, brought up on money related corruption charges, and now guilty on all counts. that's were we are here in NY. it's disgusting. carson is too passive and seemingly complacent to gain any backing for President.

Had to vent some here about Obama Care...AKA Affordable Care Act (Joke of a name).

As most of us know the main provisions were phased in January, 2014. With that in mind (since my health insurance leaps up annually) I decided to look back & see my cost/month since 2011 (rounded off to the even $).

2011 - $407

2012 - $390

2013 - $413

Obama care phases in 1/2014

2014 - $477

2015 - $550

2016 - $640.

Affordable care? Doesn't look that way where it's going.

This is just for ME...just 1 person! Makes me cringe to think what a family may be paying now with mine increasing 55% since 2013.

There are no details because they are running for President, which is the Executive branch. Presidents don't enact or repeal anything.

Most candidates on the gop side have said they have a plan.

Far as our govt working as it is supposed to what is to stop a new president to repeal or dismantle by executive order?

With the current it is a stalemate, obama would veto anything congress might pass to overturn obamacare.

Yep...nothing will happen while BHO is in office or if the Dems win the election. In the mean time...health insurance cost will (according to the CBI) continue to rise at the rate of ~5%/year (according the the link below)...roughly 2% more than the average annual income increase.

Let me jump in here and give my view as witnessed while performing my pharmacist duties.  First, it is not possible to receive the best care in the world while paying little if anything.  You should not expect to receive thousands in benefits by paying hundreds in premiums.  Imagine if your car insurance paid for routine maintenance, such as oil changes, wiper blades, and tires.  How much do you think your car insurance would cost?  Now, unfortunately, much of our society has this entitlement mentality.  We have patients on Medicare Part D, who complain about a 20 cent co-pay, and yet they benefit from a program they never paid into and their premiums are subsidized.  We are treating conditions that are lifestyle related and those patients should not be benefiting from the neighbor who is paying taxes to cover other's poor choices while struggling to provide for their own.  I see an overuse and abuse of our healthcare system by those on Medicaid and Medicare.  Many of these people drive new vehicles, live in newer homes (subsidized?), and seem to be able to afford beer and cigarettes.

Let me put it this way, there is no way my neighbors should have to pay my way and there is no way I should have to pay for theirs.   Most of these "entitled" people are rude and demanding.  The only sensible way to end this "Health Care" mess is to get the government out of it.  Then, make all medical care cash pay up front and have the patients submit claims to the insurance companies.  I firmly believe this will lower up front costs which will lower premiums.  Insurance companies pay at a rate so low that, in the pharmacy world, we often are reimbursed less than the acquired cost.  Pharmacy work force is often reduced to a critical level.  In the physician's office you are seeing more PAs and NPs and less MDs.  The insurance companies tell the medical providers what they are going to pay for services and products.  Next time you buy a car, try telling the dealer what you are going to pay him for it.

This idea of subsidizing and giving things for free is a bad idea.  Every level of government has lost sight of what is supposed to be doing and is instead being controlled by special interest groups.  Our tax dollars should not be the government reaching in our pockets to give the money to someone else.  Political interest, desire to contol and greed are ruling this country.

Agree with everything you said here Dave.  The govt never should have gotten into a takeover of health care in the first place.  Corruption and greed rule politics, these elected officials get into office and forget the people they were elected to represent.
