1st Deer Dog Drive of the Season - Close up with deer!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone it's been a few weeks since we posted. Things have been busy! But we're back... every year after Thanksgiving we head up to North Florida to run dogs. First drive of the year and it didn't dissapoint. The dogs run the deer right to me!

Happy holidays everyone!

Here's a video of the hunt...

Reminds me of coon hunting as a kid.

We had some great times doing that.

Deer hunting with dogs isn't legal here. Maybe it's more of a southern thing.

I say if it's legal where you live go for it.

Nice video. Thanks.

Oh,  you should get the girl a shooting stick. They do a lot to help aim.

Hey Ultradog, thanks man. Yeah it's legal here in Florida and definitely more of a southeastern thing. A lot of dog hunters in Florida and the Carolinas.

Hopefully soon we get a nice deer cross Shelby. She's deadly with that thing. Killed her first deer in front of the dogs. Dropped it one shot.

Pretty neat video. That is so different than me parking my butt in a tree for 6 hours lol...looks like fun though. It looks like some thick, nasty stuff around there.

Thanks Mudrunner, it is thick! I'm always amazed at how the dogs run through those thick palmettos

Walkers or Black and Tans, same as they run for Bear

Different worlds, around here some would and probably still do shoot dogs that ran deer.  Buckshot isn't legal here for deer either.

Grew up in central Florida, remember guys using dogs to run pigs, but those were mostly pitt bulls and bull mastiff mixes.  Guess the good thing about the dogs, probably makes for pretty simple track jobs.

Nice. We we've got four Walkers. They're incredible hunters. Our oldest dog Mojo has more spirit that I've seen in a deer dog.

I hate seeing when people shoot dogs. Luckily we rarely come across that here but I see posts every now again. So sick.

We've got a lease in Hendry county where there are several hog dog hunters. You're right, they use a lot of pits, mastiffs, muts... the bigger and brawnier the better
