Congrats on your buck Martin!  Nice start!!!

We were on the same team once before...long time ago.  I think it was the same year your son-in-law killed a nice 10 point on one of his first hunts (if not the 1st) of that season.  About the only long time member here I've never been on a team with is Hoosier.

Congratulations Martin!  Not sure when I'll get my 1st hunt in yet.  Still in the mid 90's here and the Mississippi season opens Tuesday.  Not my kind of bowhunting weather.  Looks like I won't get a chance to hit the road to Missouri until Oct. 7th or so.

Looking forward to long johns weather.  Supposed to stay in the mid 90's into next weekend here.  Season opens Tuesday but I can wait a little bit longer.  Plan to head up to Missouri on 10/7 or 10/8 for about 5 or 6 days.  Then the temp there is supposed to be in the upper 40's for lows and mid to upper 60's for highs.  My kind of early season weather.

Yup, got my Target buck, "Rage Hypodermic" at 16 yards took out lung and heart. He ran 40 yards and did a nose dive, summer salted all in view from my stand.THEN the shakes set in! Man O Man!!  Al, I did have my long Johns on today, stiff N.E. Lake Superior wind..I was two hours into my eve. sit, was just starting to get a bit of a chill. Buck was on cam early a.m., pulled cards late morning, knew he was on property bedded up. Figured he would be coming back through heading for alfalfa. HE did. I was ready.

Gun season be next for me in Nov.

Congratulations Martin!  WTG!!!  It's that way with me and the shakes bowhunting too.  After the shot the shakes set in, especially with nice bucks.  Saw it's getting cooler north of here.  It still will be in the mid 90's through this weekend but supposed to cool off a little next week.

Since my son is going to make it to the MS camp this weekend (having a work weekend), I'm going to spend the weekend here in MS with him.  I plan to drive to my son's house in Memphis, TN next Monday afternoon, then drive to Missouri from there.  Plan to be in a stand bowhunting Tuesday afternoon in the cool air for about 6 or 7 days.  Forecast shows it's supposed to be in the mid 40's for lows and mid to upper 60's for highs there by then and not supposed to rain.  They've had a lot of rain there lately.  So much a big creek that runs through the property is outside it's banks.  The river that borders the south side is also up with flood waters in parts of the corn fields by it.

I'll be in Missouri in time to hunt tomorrow afternoon.  Bad news though...lightening hit the house/camp there and there is some damage inside.  Not sure how bad yet.  Have our neighbor/ranch manager checking it out and contacting the insurance company.  Not sure how much that will cut into my hunting time while I'm there.  We'll see but I don't usually hunt mornings until near the end of this month anyway.  Going to have some cleanup to do though after the insurance company comes to take their pictures, etc.

BTW...spent Friday & Saturday planting food plots down here.  We are supposed to have a cold front move through here today that will take it out of the mid 90's to more seasonal fall weather here...finally.

Back from Missouri till later this month.  Bagged a doe but didn't see any shooter bucks while bowhunting.

This trip was a series of bad luck things happening.  1st, had to get the city to fix a cracked water line at my house right before I left on Monday, Oct 7th.  Then my Suburban broke down on the way up there.  Put it in a shop in Memphis, TN.  Got my buddy to pick me up on his way to MO 2 days later (Wednesday).  The house in Missouri was hit by lightening.  Knocked 2 panels of Hardy board off the outside, and a tear drop piece of drywall off the inside.  Numerous outlets and appliances were fried.  A breaker box in the basement was blown off the wall and just hanging by the wires connected to it.  A 2nd breaker box only had 2 breakers tripped.  Fortunately, the heater worked, we had hot water, the fridge was fine, the washer & dryer worked, most of the lights worked, and the stove worked (but the oven was fried).  That was about all that was functional.  We spent more time dealing with the house issues (insurance agent, adjuster and contractors) than hunting to get the ball rolling on repairs.  Did all we could to have it ready for the contractor to get the electrical issues fixed and everything inside either put away or covered for the drywall work to done.  Hope all the electrical problems are fixed before I return on Oct. 29th.

Wow!..I have had lightening issues too in the past Al, chasing everybody down and getting insurance in order is not fun.

Then dump a water line and vehicle breakdown on top of that...you had a PLATEFUL!

Met my son and 2 of his buddies at the MS camp Thursday afternoon.  I hunted that afternoon but only saw 1 doe a long way off.  It rained Friday and most of Saturday so I didn't hunt.  Had to pick up my Suburban at the transmission shop Friday morning too.  I mainly went to enjoy time with the younger guys anyway.  Nobody bagged a deer.  Heading to Missouri tomorrow.  I'll be there till at least Nov. 8th.  With no wifi there for the time being, may not be able to check in here.  We'll see.

Well, I actually feel like I'm contributing something now. Took my smoke pole and bow out opening morning on public, never fired a shot.  Shot a decent buck, and a doe about 20 minutes later.  I watched both of them fall, no blood trailing needed.  Those Slick Tricks are some mean broadheads!
